Pilot A Hero In Crash

Several ^C1 residents were hurt, and Pilot Barbara Folten suffered a broken leg and minor lacerations when her single-engine plane lost a wing strut and crashed in a busy downtown ^C1 intersection at the peak of lunch hour. "She forced that plane to crash where it would do the least damage," said one witness. "Right into a seven-story brick wall." FAA investigator Randolf Scitizini agreed. "It was either the wall or ninety-odd people crossing the street. She took the hit like a real pro."
