Contestant Advances in State Wide Spelling Bee

Linda Grosman advanced to the State Spelling Bee Semi-Finals with the correct spelling of ubunctionary. "You got to hand it to her. She’s smart," Stoobs ‘Mack’ Neederman said. "It was a made-up word and it doesn’t mean anything. The kid’s a whiz." Linda will travel to the county seat next week.

The plucky seventh grader hopes to be an ionic de-molecular engineer when she finishes college. "Or maybe a bicycle messenger," she added. Linda’s teachers aren’t surprised at her advancement. "She’s been spelling things correctly ever since she’s been in school. Even when she’s wrong, she’s pretty close."
